Jane from Montgomery, OH

Good morning.  This is not my first purchase as I ordered once before and completely enjoyed the pierogi and kielbasa and other goodies in one of the pre-selected boxes.  This time I selected what has special meaning to me.  I spent much time in Garfield as my mother grew up on Banta Avenue off Ray Street.  I have so many WONDERFUL memories and so do my own children.  Lucky us. My order is very specific.  The pierogi are close enough to Babcia's although she never added onions to the potato and cheese.  (My paternal Babcia made leniwe pierogi which were not my favorirte.) My uncle was a butcher in South Brooklyn and made his own kielbasa and kiszka and often picked up babka and makownik at White Eagle Bakery which was close by his shop. Swierza kielbasa  was part of our Easter meal. At Wigilja Mom's mushroom soup was made with the treasured mushrooms sent by family in Poland.  Memories... I first learned about Piast when a Polish foodie on Facebook mentioned your store "in northern NJ" in one of their blogs.  Thank you for being part of my journey down memory lane. Wesolego Alleluja!
