Was near running errands, thought to pick up some foods I don't normally get. Piast and Polish food won out over Latin food in Passic. Had seen it few times and was amused/intruiged by the Bavarian castle/moat motif outside.

Inside is a butcher/meat/Kielbasa sausage shop, polish grocery, good selection of Polish and German beers (recognized a few, will come back next time for them), prepared packaged Polish foods (got some meat and saukraut stew for later) and the hot food counter.

The electronic menu on top with names and explanations helped the selection choices, and we took some time cross referrencing the menu to the hot steaming trays to get our order right.

Typically in Polish places I've been to, there has been communication issues (I dont' speak Polish), but the kind generous young lady serving us took time to explain their options, offer suggestions and helped us feel at ease.
We wound up getting 2 plates, stuffed cabbage with mashed potatoes/gravy and meatballs with gravy over rice along with red cabbage, hot saurkraut. We also saw a huge pork shank off to the side which was their special. It was the size of a child's head and sauteed onions surrounding it. Hearing it was $8, I had thought we would get a piece of the meat mountain...but alas, we got the whole thing. We got the explanation that it's usually a hot seller, but we got lucky. Wifey was appreciative of the fact that she didn't have to cook, food was tasty and there was a lot of iron in the protein heavy offering. Thanks counter lady, happy wife is definately leads to happy life.

Got it back home, we barely finished 1/2 of what we got between 3 adults. There are now leftovers for next meals. $32 for so much food, just think about it.

While not a Polish food snob, the food tasted great and was generous to a fault. I would totally go back and get more. Maybe try out their kielbasa sausages and the Polish beers.

Niche ethnic places like these are always interesting and fun to explore, living in a diverse area I feel that we're fortunate to be able to experience such diversity without having to travel far.

Support your local businesses. I plan on returning here for some good Polish food and good customer service (I didn't see any sour faced fraus here, in contract to prior reviews from fake reviewers/maybe competition?).

Great place! I have one complaint though. Please be on the same page and get your story straight with your discount coupons. Some employees accept it, some employees have told me it was for online purchase only (even though it didn't indicate that) and your other store doesn't accept it and employees seem like they just saw it for the first time.

I love Polish food, but not many places near me. Garfield is about 25 minutes away and I had to go to American Stone.
How lucky we found Piast meats and Provisions. We went for prepared food, but there is much, much more. Butcher section, frozen foods, and just full market of provisions.

Now to the prepared section, so much to choose from. We had potato pancakes, so thin and delicious. The stuffed meat cabbage, pierogi, split pea soup and noodles with sauerkraut. All fantastic.

The Good- decent pork products at good prices

The Bad- serious bitchface attitude by the women at the deli counter . Did they go to the Frau Blucher school of charm ?

I tried to order kielbasa and pierogis as I had in the past. I called the Garfield store and they told me I can only order $99.00 dollar bundles.
I am one person and now live in Maine. I do not have a freezer other than the refrigerator. When asked why they couldn't send smaller packages, I was given a baloney story about them being unable to get dry ice. I grew up in Garfield a few blocks from their store. There are purveyors of dry ice just blocks away and also one in Lodi. Honesty is not their strong point.

Lately the owner decided not to put any prices on any of his merchandise for speculative reasons hoping that you put into basket and pay. He knows that you will not ask anybody for prices because the people are behind counter and there is nobody to ask.
I found out at home how overpriced his little cheeses were few months ago $1.50 and now $3.50. This is not the way to do business tricking people. Will never shop there unless he puts prices back where they belong!!! $14 for these four tiny cheeses. Be careful!

Because they have a catering kitchen next door, their dinner sets are great value! An entrée, salad and side is around $10 or under (premium options like ribs or pork knuckle cost more). The meats can be a bit dry, but overall they're decent options for generously sized family meals if you don't want to cook. (1 box can feed 2 small eaters.)

PS: They make their own sausages, hams, etc.

When we first started ordering their products for mail delivery, it was great. The deli meats tasted great and you were able to choose the products you wanted. Then someone came up with an idea to offer bundles. They don't even offer all the cold cold cuts they previously did. The taste is not there. They don't have a bakery bundle . Why ruin something that was previously good! Bring back the bakery and more deli choices!

Something's wrong. Piast used to be my go to for Polish style food. Not anymore- ugh!!
First quality of meats - all their hams, turkey breasts and boczek are now rubbery and tasteless.
Their smoked provisions for meats now has a dominant flavor- allspice. Yuck ! Don't taste anything but allspice. Never had that in any Polish style foods in all my years (63). Please stop.
Their kielbasa and pierogis are still good so I give them the 3 stars.
I'm not alone in my opinion. Piast was always a wait in line to get served, especially on Saturdays. Yesterday 10/8/22 at 1pm, there was only one person in front of me. Unfortunately I bought and tried my usual buys, my wife, son and his girlfriend and myself ate very little, disappointed in almost everything, and threw away the smoked bacon after trying it. So sorry to lose such a past great place.

I see a tree removal work crew on a lunch break after the NJ storm and I get a whiff of kielbasa and it made me hungry. So I Yelp Polish food and come up with this place that looks like a White Castle from a bad dream, but it is what it is. I never do Polish Delis but then where do you go for the real stuff?

I was just going to buy and take home but the deli also cooks take out meals and after chatting a bit with the guy at the counter I go for the "Lite Combo" with a huge link of kielbasa, potato and cheese pierogis, "grandma's bread" pickles and real Polish mustard.

They decided to toss in a complimentary slice of triple smoked bacon for me, telling me I will be back for more and saying I should get a few pounds of the kielbasa now, I look at the meat counter and it looks like they have over 14 verities just hanging from the ceiling alone.

Well I passed on stocking up and when I got home I went straight for the meet and after a little dip and dab of the mustard and it was so good. I was nibbling the crispy caramelize edges where they slice the kielbasa before hitting the hot skillet. I then wrap it with the bacon and bread with more mustard and had like a Polish hot dog to remember.

That meaty kielbasa It was way better than that soft stuff I get at ShopRite.
